The WSJ reports that First Boston's costs are like 87% of revenue, higher than most major rivals.

"The group's toughest challenge ahead is at U.S.-based investment-banking unit Credit Suisse First Boston, where costs came to nearly 87% of revenue in the last quarter, higher than at major rivals. Group Chairman Lukas Muehlemann said he and his colleagues "will have to bring the cost structures at CSFB more in line with industry standards."

Here's a thought. Exactly how many supervisors and managers and VPs and Assistant VPs do you need for a word processing center?

Outsource the word processing center (oh excuse me, the Presentation Technology Center) to Bowne and fire all of the people that are currently employed in the Center. Either this or just nuke the site from space.
