TEMP AGENCIES predict an increase in demand
Matt Fondel, a temp worker who also runs a Web site listing temp agencies and their employers, says some temps could feel short-term pain, if their jobs after last Tuesday were canceled or curtailed, as his was. But he expects demand to surge as downtown New York companies clean up offices, set up new ones and tackle piled-up work.
"I have a feeling there will be a lot of work, especially if people live in Manhattan," Mr. Fondel says. WSJ 9/18/01.

Firms Are Struggling to Determine Number of Temps in Trade Center
Temps have long been the least visible part of the work force -- a fact that was underscored Sept. 11. While most companies based in the towers were able to account for their full-time workers within days, few know yet how many temps were in their offices that morning, let alone how many made it out alive. The total number working there that morning could be anywhere from several hundred to more than 1,500, says Tim Loncharich, head of Snelling Personnel Services, a Dallas agency. WSJ 9/25/01
