There seems to be a little scheme/scam/marketing strategy of getting temps to sign contracts in exchange for TRAINING to be a presentation center specialist.
In exchange for TRAINING you have to agree to only work for that agency and we assume at their rate.
Now we know that Presentation Center Temps spend most of their time eating, sleeping and listening to music on their CD player, so like what exactly is in the training program. "Okay, sit here, now fall asleep, now wake up and take out your CD player?.
Two agencies we know of doing this are TNG and Premier

i was trained at TNG. said i did NOT want to be stuck on the graveyard shift, but that's where they stuck me in the beginning. was on the graveyard for 3 months -- wanted to get out, but the contract i'd signed stated that i couldn't leave for at least a year, because of the "costs" of the 3-week training course. [if i did leave, so the contract stated, i'd have to pay a penalty fee...]
the guy at tng, tim, has always been a slippery guy. seems real nice, but you can tell he's got his own interests in place. real manipulative.
after a lot of bitching and moaning, i got them to switch me a day shift spot at another presentation center, with more pay (at the time) -- and i've been at that company for 2 1/2 years now as a "permatemp". i stuck around because it was easy enough and the pay was decent, but the restructuring of the pres center and the "widening" of the parameters of the pres center operator is making me look for a way out.

And No! It was NOT by George Duroy.
The thang is that unemployment will train people who are not working for free. A couple of years ago, all you had to do was pick a program and a school and the whole thing was paid for and handled by the Department of Labor.
As I understand it now, in order to get training you have to complete some form and essentially, you get a certificate for $2,000 or so. If the course costs more you have to make up the difference.
